Student • Tinkerer • FPV Drone Builder & Pilot

Liam Pelnar

I’m Liam, a student who enjoys building and flying FPV drones and figuring out how things work. I’m part of my school’s BEST team, and I’ve gained hands-on work experience through yardwork and a summer supporting a commercial lighting replacement project. I’d like to help beginners get into FPV drones, and someday I hope to work on jet engines.

Student & Tinkerer

Learning and Working Together

I try to make time for people, listen to their ideas, and treat them with respect even when we disagree. Whether I’m working with a crew or my school’s BEST team, I want to contribute and be someone others can count on.

I enjoy figuring out how things work, trying things for myself, and learning from people with more experience. Working as a helper in the trades gave me the chance to work alongside people from different generations and learn from their approaches.

Practical Pursuits

Learning by doing

Learning through summer work, school teamwork, and building and flying FPV drones.

Electronics Projects

Spent summer assisting commercial electricians on site. I staged new lighting fixtures ahead of installation crews and collected removed fixtures for disposal pickup. Working independently, I adjusted to each electrician’s pace and staging preferences so materials were ready where and when they needed them.

Collaborating with high school teammates to design, build, and program custom robots for annual engineering competition tasks.

I’ve been working on electronics projects since I soldered my first project at age 10. Some were projects with my father, and others gave me a chance to work things out myself. Today, I build and fly FPV drones, drawing on what I’ve learned along the way.

FPV Flight

From Choosing Parts to Taking Flight

I enjoy planning FPV drone builds, choosing components that work together, assembling the electronics, and configuring the drone in Betaflight. Building and flying gives me a chance to understand how those choices affect the finished drone.

Getting started can be overwhelming. It’s hard to know whether you’re buying compatible parts, spending money wisely, or choosing a setup that fits what you want to do. I’d like to help beginners work through those decisions and build drones they can feel confident getting started with.
